'Cawl Cnau' is a new performance for young audiences on the themes of food as stories.
‘Cawl Cnau | Nut Soup’ is a devised performance for children aged 7+ and their families in Welsh about sharing. The concept focuses on the culture of food in our lives; how it tells stories, and is used as weapons and peacemakers, allowing us to share in each other’s experiences, time and understanding. Through this performance, we aim to interpret these themes on a universal level, and to see how we can build on our bilingual nation by creating work accessible to a wider audience regardless of language or age. Food is more than what we eat; it’s a tool for compromise, control and rebellion. This will be a slapstick comedy for the family with a ‘taste’ for curiosity, whatever language you speak.
This project is funded and supported generously by the Arts Council of Wales and supported by Cwmni Theatr Fran Wen and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.
In addition, an international research project will be held with the generous help of Theaterschool Utrecht and Theater de Krageling, the Netherlands.
